Brief History
The Mandarin Speakers Association was formed in November
2000. The Association is an independent non-profit-making
organisation. Its members
are mandarin speakers, including those who originate from Mainland China, Taiwan, Hongkong, Macao, Singapore, and Malaysia. The Mandarin Speakers Association aims to encourage its
members to promote cultual and social exchange between United Kingdom
and mandarin speaking group. Its main objectives are as follows:
- to participate in the activities and the decision-making
that will influence their lives
- to promote harmony between the Mandarin-speaking groups
and the other community groups
- to enable individuals from the Mandarin-speaking groups to enjoy equity of
treatment
- to help the Mandarin-speaking group to maintain their cultural heritages
- to provide its members with various services such as translation, language
training, legal consultancy, etc.
- to hold a series of events to promote awareness of the culture of
community in the wider communities
